Ostomy Discovery Day is Calgary Ostomy Society’s signature educational and social event series, held from March through June and September through October, with virtual Zoom meetings offered in February and November. Meetings are typically hosted in our Vice President’s condo lounge, although some sessions may be held at a community hall depending on attendance and programming needs.

These hybrid meetings provide an opportunity to learn about the latest products, innovations, and resources from leading ostomy manufacturers such as Hollister, Coloplast, Convatec, and other industry partners. Each session features educational presentations, product demonstrations, and practical information designed to help people living with an ostomy improve their quality of life and confidence.

Beyond the educational component, Ostomy Discovery Day is also a chance to connect with others who understand the ostomy journey, as well as other bowel and bladder diversion surgeries like a j-pouch or koch pouch. Refreshments are provided, and there is always time for conversation, networking, and peer support in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Attendance is free and open to anyone living with an ostomy, as well as caregivers, family members, healthcare professionals, and students interested in ostomy care. For those who live outside of Calgary or are unable to attend in person, Zoom access is available, making it easy to participate from anywhere.
