We frequently receive calls and emails regarding our services. In this FAQ, we address some common questions about the services we offer and those we do not.
The Calgary Ostomy Society does not collect donated ostomy supplies directly. However, we partner with an organization called Friends Of Ostomates Worldwide (FOWC), which collects ostomy donations and distributes them to individuals in need in developing countries.

For those who prefer to sell unused ostomy supplies, platforms like Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace can be helpful.
The Calgary Ostomy Society cannot provide financial support for ostomy supplies, as we are a small organization and this falls outside our mission and fundraising goals. Fortunately, Alberta has one of Canada’s best medical supply coverage programs called “Alberta Aids to Daily Living” (AADL), which provides coverage for ostomy supplies through a cost-share program.
However, Calgary Ostomy offers sponsorship for the Ostomy Youth Camp, typically covering half of the entry fee. Please contact us for more information.
Calgary Ostomy Society is unable to assist with services that would typically be covered by Home Care, as we are not qualified or insured. If you or a loved one is struggling with ostomy care, please call to request a referral for a home care assessment.
Calgary Ostomy Society holds a monthly support group on the last Tuesday of the month, as well as our Osto-Meet lunch on the second Saturday of the month. We also have special events such as our quarterly meetings and the annual Step Up For Ostomy fundraiser in the fall.
