President’s Message
Spring is just around the corner, and it’s a wonderful time to get involved with the Calgary Ostomy community! We have several exciting events coming up, including the Osto-Meet Social Lunch this Saturday and our monthly support group on March 25. Additionally, Ostomy Canada will be hosting a webinar on March 19 focused on preventing ostomy leaks.
We are currently planning our spring quarterly meeting and will announce the details soon.
We have secured a venue for our charity auction on June 21. This important event will help us raise funds for our chapter operations and sponsor local children to attend the Ostomy Canada Youth Camp in July. We are looking for volunteers to assist with procuring auction items and to join our planning committee. We are working hard to organize a fun day that will feature a live auction and a fashion show. If you’re interested in getting involved, please reach out to us at hello@calgaryostomy.ca.
Our new website has launched, www.calgaryostomy.ca, and we will be adding more details in the coming weeks.
If you haven’t renewed your membership yet, you can easily do so on our new webpage: https://calgaryostomy.ca/membership/. We have chosen to use Zeffy for our membership, ticket sales, and donations, which allows us to save on PayPal fees. The new membership form also includes an easy option for making a donation, and you will receive a tax receipt for your contribution. If you have any questions about membership or tax receipts, please contact tiffany@calgaryostomy.ca.
Wishing you good health,
Pat Cimmeck, President
Christmas Party Recap

The Calgary Christmas Social, held on December 7, was a wonderful event that brought together around 40 attendees for a delightful turkey dinner. We organized an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest, which resulted in plenty of laughter. Melodie, a member with a Urinary Koch Pouch, showcased her custom-embroidered hoodie, while our volunteer Tiffany, who has an ileostomy, sported a creative “Barbie Butt” sweater.
Many attendees generously contributed to our Coins for Camp initiative, helping us raise $82. Additionally, our 50/50 raffle garnered $172, with Phil Janse winning half of the total.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our volunteers, including the executive committee, as well as Carmen Leclerc from Hollister and her partner Alex. We also appreciate Nanotess for providing product samples to our members and for launching a social media campaign that raised awareness about our group and the event. Lastly, a big thank you to the Kerby Centre and their amazing volunteers for making this event possible.
