Calgary Ostomy Society Celebrates the Season at Glitz & Glam Christmas Social
Calgary Ostomy Society celebrated the season with a Glitz & Glam Christmas Social on December 6 at the Kerby Centre—featuring a ham dinner, Brown Bag auction, White Elephant exchange, photo booth fun, and a special group photo honouring members featured in the Ostomy Canada magazine.
The Calgary Ostomy Society wrapped up the year in festive style with its 2025 Glitz & Glam–themed Christmas Social, held on December 6, 2025, at the Kerby Centre in Calgary. Members and guests were encouraged to dress up in their favourite glamorous outfits or festive Christmas attire, and the result was an evening full of sparkle, holiday cheer, and community connection.
Approximately 30 attendees gathered to enjoy a traditional ham dinner, with tickets pre-sold at $36 per plate. The room buzzed with conversation and laughter as members caught up and celebrated the season together.
One of the most popular activities of the night was the Brown Bag auction. Guests placed tickets into bags displayed in front of donated prizes, with one winning ticket drawn for each item. The auction raised approximately $190. While the event ultimately just about broke even, it provided valuable lessons for future fundraisers—and plenty of fun along the way. Special thanks to Phil and Kaylee Janse for handling the raffle ticket sales.
Additional highlights included door prize draws, a lively White Elephant gift exchange, and a Christmas photo booth that gave everyone a chance to capture the memories.
A particularly meaningful moment of the evening was a group photo featuring Calgary Ostomy Society members who have appeared in the Ostomy Canada magazine. Each participant proudly held the issue they were featured in, celebrating their stories and contributions to the ostomy community. The Calgary Ostomy Society extends sincere thanks to the executive team for their dedication and hard work in planning such a joyful event. The Glitz & Glam Christmas Social was a wonderful reminder of the strength, warmth, and connection within our community—and a perfect way to close out the year.
