Have you, or someone under your care, recently undergone ostomy or j-pouch surgery? Engage directly with a Certified Ostomy Visitor for specialized support. Our visiting coordinators facilitate both self-referrals and patient referrals, providing a thoughtful pairing with a visitor who has undergone similar surgical experiences and shares a comparable demographic background—whether it be ileostomy, colostomy, urostomy, j-pouch, or reversal. This personalized interaction offers customized advice and support, aiding in your recovery process.
About The Ostomy Visitor Program
What is the Ostomy Visitor Program?
The Ostomy Visitor Program supports individuals undergoing or considering ostomy or j-pouch surgery. Certified Calgary Ostomy Society volunteers visit, offering emotional support, sharing knowledge, and providing positive experiences to help individuals regain confidence in their physical, social, and economic lives.
Who Are the Visitors?
Visitors are members of the Calgary Ostomy Society, who are trained and certified under Ostomy Canada Society’s Visitor Training Program, and have passed a Police Information Check. They come from diverse backgrounds but share the experience of living with an ostomy or j-pouch.
